Managing forests for ecological resilience and sustainable wood fiber flow is needed to grow regional competitiveness while extending the benefits to the public, rural, and tribal communities.

We plan to implement three integrated initiatives:

  1. Collaborative Federal Forest Resilience Program
We will build on proven partnerships between state and federal land management agencies to improve forest resilience and increase wood fiber availability. This will also provide meaningful opportunities to advance forest resilience, increase wood fiber supplies, and lower wood fiber prices.
  2. Track and Trace Transparency
We will communicate how mass timber addresses housing needs, provides economic value, secures carbon, and increases forest resilience. Investing in regional track-and-trace efforts builds trust in the marketplace, sets the stage for future state and national policies, and leverages wood products’ positive impact on jobs, forests, carbon, and rural communities.
  3. Tribal Wood Market Development
The socioeconomic benefits of the region’s growing mass timber ecosystem have not been equally distributed. We plan to extend targeted resources to tribal partners to provide more equitable economic opportunity, forest resilience, and housing solutions.
